Anti social networking

Alright. I think I've figured this out before, but it never hurts to be reminded: blogger is not the best for posting on-the-go. The app is no longer supported and so essentially doesn't work. I will continue to write posts, hopefully weekly, but if you're interested in seeing my videos
, They'll be posted here.

I'll also be posting photos in Google photos, though I think there will be a slight delay between the event any me getting together an album. I've always avoided Facebook for the obvious reasons and I've never really gotten into Twitter, though perhaps I should.

I'm open to advice on the best way to share things. I'd like to be able to put together albums and videos on the fly to let you guys see what I'm doing when I'm doing it. The idea is to create a record of what the trip is like in the moment rather than trying to write a blog post after the fact, hoping to recreate the moment.

Of course, I'll still keep the blog for more in depth descriptions and post weekly. (That's the goal anyway.) Of course that's only a few posts while on vacation, so I'm really hoping to find a good way to put everything in one place.

I know there are plenty of options for this among the array of social networking apps and I think that may be the problem: options paralysis. Anyway, let me know what you think the best option is.

Thanks.

Leaving for vacation

I leave for vacation today. It's the Spring Festival holiday and I've planned a trip to the Philippines. This is the first major vacation I'll be posting on this blog so I have my fingers crossed that I'll be able to post interesting content.
I'm going by myself on this trip so hopefully I'll have time to make daily posts.
I'm going to be putting videos on YouTube as well. I assume they'll still link to this blog. Though I'll warn now that the sound quality isn't all that great. I'll just have to iron out the wrinkles as I go but hopefully I'll be able to post some interesting things along the way.

So far I've left yueyang and returned to my old stomping grounds in Chenzhou to spend one evening with friends before I leave. If I can manage to capture anything from tonight's escapades, I'll put it in tomorrow's post.

Fayetteville, Arkansas

*The following post was written in the summer of 2018. It failed to post, but I still wanted to get these pictures of this beautiful property out to anyone interested.*

A surprise is always nice. The weather is nice when you didn't expect it to be. The coffee is of higher quality than usual. And the environment is a vast improvement over what it has been. I'm spending the week with a friend in Fayetteville, Arkansas.Fayetteville is where the University of Arkansas is located and Bentonville (headquarters of Wal-Mart) is located in the same metropolitan area, about half an hour from where we currently are. She's here for a family reunion, which will be happening later in the week and I've tagged along. We're staying at her parent's house and she warned me that the house is amazing and I was going to love it, but such claims are often made about every shitty suburban neighborhood so I really didn't know what to expect, but I was wholly delighted by the place. It's an old farmhouse on a hill, surrounded by trees and in view of no other houses. The breeze through the wrap-around porch is better than the air conditioning inside. We've come out on the porch to work/write blogs and it couldn't be more pleasant.

This is exactly the sort of home that you want to see turned into a Bed and Breakfast some day. Though we can hear traffic in the distance, we're surrounded by trees and chirping birds. There's a winding driveway to the main road, though the road isn't visible from the front porch. I know we aren't far from civilization, but it certainly seems that we are. Some of the other buildings that were originally part of the farm have also been converted to housing. They're on the property and relatively close by, but you can't see them and it still feels like we're secluded far from the outside world. It's exactly the place you'd want to spend a week to relax.
